Mrs. Betty Lou Carpenter Tucker, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Tucker was born November 1, 1928, in Surry County, to the late William Melvin and Mary Beasley Carpenter. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist faith. She is survived by her husband, Emmett Thomas Tucker of the home; a daughter, Debbie Denny of Pilot Mountain; a son and daughter-in-law, Trent and Gina Tucker of Yadkinville; four grandchildren, Drew and Sloan Denny, Thomas and Shannon Denny, Alex Denny, and Olivia Tucker; three great-grandchildren, McCall Denny, Jackson Denny, and Whitman Denny; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Shelby Carpenter of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Carpenter. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time to depart to the cemetery for the service.
