        Mrs. Betty Foley Wood of Stuart, Virginia passed away on October 20, 2022, at age 86.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Foley and Lucy Bowling Foley; her loving husband of 63 years, James Benton Wood; an infant daughter, Elizabeth Leigh Wood; two sisters, Thelma Conner, Mary Ruth Morrison; and three brothers, Jack, Buck, and Glenn Foley.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.  She graduated from Stuart High School Class of 1954.  She retired after 44 years of service with United Elastic/J.P. Stevens/CMI as an information services center employee.

         Following retirement, she was chairman for 12 years with the Patrick County Crime Stoppers.  She volunteered until 2011 driving the elderly to doctor’s offices, therapy appointments, treatment centers, and emergency rooms.  Many times, she cooked meals for these people.

         She is survived by a son, James Curtis Wood and wife, Diane; one granddaughter, Savannah Wood; one grandson, Ryan Wood, all of Roanoke; two brothers, Marvin Foley of Stuart, Sam Foley of Houston, TX; and a sister-in-law, Angie Foley of Stuart.

         A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Patrick Memorial Gardens with Pastor Warren Carswell officiating.
