Beulah Athylene Sutphin Hatcher

Mrs. Beulah Athylene "Lynn" Sutphin Hatcher, 82, of 160 Coolidge Avenue, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday night, January 27, 2009, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Hatcher was born April 29, 1926, to the late Ewell and Eula Bowman Sutphin in Laurel Fork, VA. She retired from Lynn Hosiery and was a member of the Baptist faith. Lynn leaves behind to cherish her memory a son and two daughters-in-law, Jerry Earl and Peggy Hatcher and Frances Hatcher, all of Mount Airy; two grandchildren and a spouse, Macy Hatcher Cook and Michelle and Steven Kirkman, Jr., all of Mount Airy; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Marie Cook and Betsy Michelle Kirkman, both of Mount Airy; a sister, Irene Sutphin Payne of Lancaster, SC; a brother, Curtiss H. Sutphin of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hatcher was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Earl Hatcher; and a son, Timothy Ray Hatcher. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Milton Sewell, and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to Central Continuing Care Activities Department, 1287 Newsome Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
