Mrs. Beulah Mae Coe Parker, 88, of Mt. Airy, widow of Elvin E. Parker, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Surry Community Nursing Center. Mrs. Parker was born in Surry County, April 30, 1918, to Joe Ceymour and Cora Eliza Sechrist Coe. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and was a member of Mt. Airy Wesleyan Church. Surviving are a daughter, Shelby Hicks of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Tim Hicks, Donald Hicks, and Kathy McMillian and husband, David; a granddaughter-in-law, Laura Davis; great grandchildren, Travis Hicks, Angela Hicks, Craig Hawks and wife, Chrissy, Shannon Hawks, and Ashley Manuel; and great-great grandchildren, Nicklaus Hicks and Cameron Hawks. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by two infant children; a granddaughter, Judy Hicks; a son-in-law, P.D. Hicks; sisters, Nell Richey, Merlie Overby, and Myrtle Blizard; and brothers, Arvil Coe and W.P. Harrison. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Richard Loman. Burial will follow in Midkiff Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home and other times at the home of Donald Hicks, 1450 East Pine Street, Mt. Airy. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Surry Community Nursing Center for the wonderful love and care given to Mrs. Parker.
