Billee Faye Horton Willard, age 63 of Winston-Salem, loving wife of over 40 years to the Roger Dale Willard, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2013 at Duke University Hospital. A proud 5 year survivor of breast cancer, Billee Faye ultimately succumbed to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), which currently has no known treatments or cure. Billee Faye was born on March 21, 1950, in Forsyth County, to Fay Lowry Horton of Mount Airy and the late Thomas William Horton. She was a 1968 graduate of Mount Airy High, and 1970 graduate of Surry Community College. She had been employed by the United States Postal Service for over 36 years. She was a loving wife, mother, nanny, daughter, sister and friend. In addition to her father, Billee Faye was preceded in death by her grandmother Margaret Lowry of Mount Airy. As well as her husband and mother, survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Elizabeth Willard of Pilot Mountain and her grandson Sean Kyle McCain; her brother, Thomas Mitchell Horton; and niece, Jessica Fay Horton. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 PM on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Billee Faye Willard Memorial Fund, 482 Ararat Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. All collections will be donated to the Duke Divison of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine to fund the efforts of physician and scientists working to discover the causes and cures of pulmonary disease.
