Mrs. Billie Steele Casstevens, 75, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, April 3, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Casstevens was born August 26, 1948, in Surry County, the younger of two daughters born to the late Jack Steele and Mary Leo Steele Samuel. Billie worked as an office clerk at Spencer’s Inc. for 23 years, and she later worked in the after-school program at Cedar Ridge Elementary School. Mrs. Casstevens was a faithful member of Central View Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bill Casstevens; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Michael Griffith; a son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Carol Casstevens; four grandchildren, Kipp Thomas Casstevens and his wife, Keely, Austin Hunter Shumate, Kyle Timothy Casstevens and his wife, Cayla, and Ethan Gray Shumate and his fiancée, Brennan Day; two stepgranddaughters, Samantha Nichole Jenkins and her husband, Jarred, and Candice Renae Rachels and her husband, Kobe; two great-grandsons, Kayde Thomas Casstevens and Cash Walker Casstevens; a great-stepgranddaughter, Hadley Mae Jenkins; and a sister, Jo Anne Cummings. The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Central View Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenny Pardue officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
