Mrs. Billie Mary Lynette Isley Edwards, age 66 of Cana, wife of Mr. Austin Lee Edwards went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Edwards was born in Alamance County on June 15, 1940 to the late Dean and Martha Frances Isley. She was a childcare provider for hundreds of local children whose lives she greatly impacted and lovingly known to them all as "Mamma Mary" A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 46 years; five daughters and four sons-in-law Deborah and Anthony Brown of Mt. Airy, Donna and Alan Smith of Matthews, April and Danny Sumner of Mt. Airy, Michelle and Andy Wilson of Smith, Ala. Melissa Edwards of the home; a son and special friend Barry Edwards and David Slater of Winston-Salem; nine precious grandchildren whom she adored; one great-granddaughter; three sisters Pat Seagraves, Sandra Isley both of Mt. Airy and Katherine Mathis of King. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday August 29, 2006 at Lambsburg Missionary Baptist church with Rev. Verlon Combs and Uncle Bill Carter officiating and burial to follow in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 at Lambsburg Missionary Baptist Church where her body will remain until the hour of the service.
