Billy Barr

Mr. Billy Darel Barr, 66, of Fancy Gap, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, May 24, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Barr was born in Carroll County on September 5, 1953 to the late Marion Reaves Barr and Lila Mae Bond Barr.  He was a mechanic by trade but will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia “Patsy” Easter Barr; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vanessa Lynn Barr Smith and husband Jonathan, and Kimberly Ann Barr Kern and husband Matthew; 4 grandchildren, Jasmine Marie Smith, Alexis Grace Smith, Elijah James Smith, and Owen Ezekiel Kern; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan Vass and husband Lester, Julia Cole and husband Terry, and Ellen Holcomb and husband Bob; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Barr was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Barr Quesenberry.  Respecting the current limitations of numbers for public gatherings at this time (COVID-19), the funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Rev. Wendell Horton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Skyview Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with full masonic rites.  Mr. Barr will lie-in-state at the funeral home until time for the service.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for all the love and care given to Mr. Barr and his family during his illness.  Memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or to Skyview Missionary Baptist Church, 129 Skyview Dr., Fancy Gap, VA 24328.  Moody Funeral Services, Inc of Mount Airy is serving the Barr family.
