Mr. Billy Junior Bledsoe, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 29, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born October 23, 1937, in Surry County, the son of the late Otis and Metta Johnson Bledsoe. Mr. Bledsoe retired from Surry County Schools, having served as principal at Lowgap Elementary School, Gentry Middle School, and Flat Rock Elementary School. He was an avid golfer and a member of Mount Airy Country Club. He was also a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. His greatest joy was being a husband of 55 years, a father, and a papa. He had many friends who held a special place in his heart. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jeff Saunders; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Donna Bledsoe; five grandchildren, Caroline Victoria Bledsoe, Otis Samuel Bledsoe, Ashley Blair Martin Vogler and Brandon, Jared Dan Pendleton, and EmmaGrey Parker Dorsett; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Carol Bledsoe; a sister-in-law, Sue Bledsoe; and several, beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bledsoe was preceded by his wife, Carole Blair Bledsoe; a sister, Carol Hall; and a brother, J.C. Bledsoe. A celebration of Junior’s life will be held Sunday, May 2, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert McCrary officiating. Interment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
