Mr. Billy Jack Corder, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Corder was born June 11, 1931, in Surry County, the son of the late Charlie and Ida Simpson Corder. Billy was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of New Home Church of Christ and retired from the plumbing and electrical industry. Surviving are his wife, Carol Stoneman Corder; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Mike Hoover and Sheila and Steve Bowman; four grandchildren, Austin Hamm, Caleb Hamm, Heather Baldwin, and Brian Bowman; and six great-grandchildren, Aubrey Mae Hamm, Betty May Hamm, Billy Reed Hamm, Etta Lynn Hamm, Logan Marie Baldwin, and Owen Ray Baldwin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Corder was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Corder; and a brother, Bruce Corder. The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 20, 2020, at 3:30 PM at Moody Funeral Chapel in Mount Airy, with Brother Tim Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:30 until 3:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private at Skyline Memory Gardens. To respect current health concerns and restrictions, everyone is asked to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Home Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, 4064 Simpson Mill Road, Dobson, NC 27017; or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
