Mr. Billy Rex Gammons age 63 of 116 Burnley Lane, Mt. Airy, NC husband of Mrs. Joyce Hamlin Gammons passed away Sunday night at Forsyth Regional Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born February 18, 1943 in Surry County, NC to Ethel Love Gammons and the late William Ed "Bill" Gammons. He was retired from the Mt. Airy Fire Department and had worked at Industrial Fire and Safety. He was a member and lay speaker for the Faith and Gospel Church. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Hamlin Gammons of the home, two daughters and a son-in-law, Joy and Rudy Leftwich, Cana, VA, and April Goad, Mt. Airy, NC and special friend, Jamie Jarrell, Cana, VA, a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Susan Gammons, Mt. Airy, NC, four grandchildren, Jessica Leftwich, Cody Leftwich, B.J. Gammons, Madison Goad, three step grandchildren, David Leftwich, Tony Leftwich and Stephen O'Neal, mother, Ethel Love Gammons, Mt. Airy, NC, a sister, Lydia Horton, Mt. Airy, NC, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Gammons was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ed Hamlin and mother-in-law, Linnie Hamlin and infant niece, Laura Mikele Cook. Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Wednesday, February 14, 2007 Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted by Rev. Forrest Fulton, Rev. Keith Love and Rev. Buford Jessup. Burial will follow in the Turkey Ford Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Tuesday night at Moody Funeral Home where his body will remain until the hour of the service.
