Billy Vernon Hayden

Mr. Billy “Bill” Vernon Hayden, 82 of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, May 9, 2018 at Central Continuing Care.  Mr. Hayden was born in Patrick County on July 8, 1935 to the late James Thomas Hayden and Annie Mae White Hayden.  Bill was a retired painter and a member of Hope Church.  He was an avid North Carolina Tarheel fan but most of all he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Betty Jean Key Hayden; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Wendy Hayden, and Mitchell Hayden; three grandchildren, Zachary and Laura Hayden, Montana Hayden, and Brody Hayden; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hayden was preceded in death by a son, Teddy “Pete” Hayden; two sisters, Irene Hayden Key and Ruth Hayden Bledsoe; and three brothers, James, Harry, and George Hayden.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon, May 12, 2018 at 2:00pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Craig Edwards officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Friends Meeting Cemetery in Ararat, NC.  The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pine Hill Friends Meeting Cemetery Fund, 3968 NC 268, Ararat, NC 27007.
