Mr. Billy Gray Kidd, 71, of Mount Airy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, December 29, 2011, from Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Kidd was born August 12, 1940, in Surry County, the son of the late James Elmer and Frances Jones Kidd. He retired as a truck driver from Roadway Trucking Company and faithfully attended Dover Baptist Church. Billy was a talented woodcraftsman and a loving father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Drew Wilmoth of Dobson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Glenna Kidd of Randleman and Marlon and Jennifer Kidd of Pilot Mountain; six grandchildren, Jacob Kidd, Reagan Kidd, Brianna Wilmoth, Elijah Kidd, Allie Wilmoth, and Brinley Kidd; a sister, Janice Dollyhigh Fleming of Mount Airy; and a special friend, Byrona Atkins of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 31, 2011, at 12:00 PM at Dover Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rickey Rogers and the Rev. Don Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 until 12:00 PM at Dover Baptist Church, and other times at the home of Janice Dollyhigh Fleming, 2195 South McKinney Road, Mount Airy. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the emergency room staff at Northern Hospital of Surry County for their special, compassionate care during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
