Billy Dean Lowe

Mr. Billy Dean Lowe, 71, of Lowgap, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Lowe was born January 1, 1937, in Surry County, to the late Eldridge and Zora Elva Lowe. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, was a member of The Gospel Family Singers, and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Verba Mae Johnson Lowe of the home; a daughter, Sherry Lowe of the home; adoptive grandchildren, Robby Shelton, Samantha Shelton, Marissa Mabe, and Brandon Price, all of Lowgap; a brother and sister-in-law, S.G. and Dorothy Lowe of Lowgap; an aunt, Ila Rose Butcher of Lowgap; an uncle, A.L. Lowe of Lowgap; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Lowe and Clara Mae Lowe; and a brother, Ambrose Glenn Lowe. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 31, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Roaring Gap Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Woodie Flippen, and burial will follow in the Kirby-Lowe Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Roaring Gap Baptist Church.
