Billy James Simmons

Rev. Billy James Simmons, 78, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at his home.  He was born in Surry County on February 25, 1941 to the late Robert and Lettie Gravely Simmons.  Rev. Simmons retired from Boston Knitting, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all his family and many friends.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara Edmond Simmons; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Suzette Simmons; grandchildren, Brandon and Claire Simmons, Tiffany and D.J. Easter, Brittany Gilley; great grandchildren, Tobin, Landree, Taegan, Raelynn, and Paxton; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ronnie Davis; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Rev. Simmons was preceded in death by a son, Mark Anthony Simmons; sisters, Mary, Judy, Doris, Ruby, and Dolly; a brother, Bobby.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Peoples Church Cemetery with the Rev.
