Billy Dean York

Mr. Billy Dean York, age 83 of Mount Airy passed away at Hugh Chatham Hospital in Elkin surrounded by his family.  Mr. York was born January 10, 1940, in Surry County to the late Howard and Clara Stone York.  Billy was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  He was a master mason and a member of Round Peak Masonic Lodge AF&AM # 616, where he recently received his 50-year certificate.  He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne York Bumgardner and husband Joey, two sons and daughter-in-law, Greg York and girlfriend Lacey Roberts; Keith York and wife Alison; his partner and caregiver, Gloria Watson; six grandchildren, Austin York, Amelia “Millie” York, Courtney Bumgardner Gilley and husband Blake, Corey Bumgardner and wife Courtney, Taylor York Cure and husband Clint, Erin York Horst and husband Mason; two great-grandchildren Tucker Bumgardner, Adleigh Gilley; brother and sister-in-law, Rick York and wife Lisa; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. York was preceded in death by an infant sister, Patricia Sue York, and sister, Sandra York Mundy.  A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February12, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Stone officiating.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
