Bishop James S. Reynolds, age 92 of Patrick Springs, Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Patrick County on March 2, 1926 to the late Roosevelt Reynolds and Ellen Cobb Reynolds. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Clanton Reynolds; his second wife, Rosie Lee King Reynolds; one daughter, Judy R. Hagwood; one grandson, James W. Reynolds; one granddaughter, Lisa Clark; son-in-law, Douglas Hylton; and five brothers, Theodore, Oscar, Loir, Moir, and David Reynolds. Bishop Reynolds had faithfully served in the United State Army. He was committed to ministry for almost 55 years with 52 years preaching at Mt. Nebo True Gospel Holiness Church. One of his many favorite verses is “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13. He was a man of great faith, who served the Lord with his heart, mind and body. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Left to cherish the memory of Bishop James Reynolds, are his six children, James T. Reynolds (Jane) of Patrick Springs, Julius A. Reynolds (Barbara) of Stuart, Doris Hylton of Patrick Springs, Nannie S. Clark of Patrick Springs, Thelma Clark (Wayne) of Patrick Springs, and Brogie H. Reynolds of Patrick Springs; a son-in-law, Joe Hagwood of Patrick Springs; one special daughter, Sam Chuk Reynolds of Maryland; two step-daughters, Florence Green and Mary Alice Moore both of Mount Airy, North Carolina; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie Reynolds of Patrick Springs; three sisters, Thelma Hairston of Stuart, Frances Clanton of Critz, and Virginia Mattox of Stuart; a great host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bishop James S. Reynolds will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Mount Nebo True Gospel Holiness Church with Pastor Sammy Hagwood, officiating and Elder Bobby Agnew, eulogizing. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by Patrick County Veteran Memorial Honor Guard. The wake will be held on Sunday afternoon at the church from 1:00 pm until time of the service. Memorials may be made to Mount Nebo True Gospel Holiness Church, P.O.
