Bobby Lee Benge

Mr. Bobby Lee Benge, 87, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born in Surry County on February 11, 1936, to the late Charles and Emma Myrtle Surratt Benge.  Mr. Benge retired from Pine State Knitwear after many years of employment.  Bobby was a loving brother who will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.  He is survived by A very special dedicated friend, Maxine Carlisle and her children, David, Susan, Charmaine, and Mike; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Benge, Wanda and Don Surratt, Alma Warf; nieces and nephews, Dorlisa Abels and friend Alan Quesinberry, Karen Warf, Tim Warf; his friends at Danny & Jesse’s Garage; many special cousins.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Benge was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Fred Abels; a brother, Charles Wayne “Pete” Benge; a brother-in-law, Mason Warf.  A funeral service will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Carlton Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Services in Mt.
