Mr. Bobby Ray Cockerham, 76 of Pilot Mountain passed this life Tuesday September 20, 2016 at his home. Mr. Cockerham was born in Surry County on June 21, 1940 to the late Romey Edward Cockerham and Margie Ethel Gilley Cockerham. Mr. Cockerham is survived by his loving and caring wife of 32 years, Peggy Jo Cockerham of the home; one daughter, Tracey Leigh King and husband Jerry of Mt. Airy; a very special step daughter and husband, Terrie and Mike Cook of Pilot Mountain; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy G. and Carol Cockerham of White Plains; and nephews Mike, Ronald, and Richard of Mt. Airy; several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he loved greatly. Mr. Cockerham was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church and loved his pastor Bro. Bill Watson. Mr. Cockerham was formerly employed as a Mt. Airy Police officer, Radio Personality with WSYD for 22 years, a car salesman with Scenic Ford and Patterson Buick-Toyota and retired from Simmons Nissan in Mt. Airy, NC. There will be no formal services for Mr. Cockerham. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Little Mountain Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Mountain Baptist Church, 640 Little Mountain Church Rd., Ararat, NC 27007 or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The Family can be reached at the home of Mike and Terrie Cook.
