Mr. Bobby Lee Dollyhigh, 87, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday morning, April 6, 2021, in the Skilled Nursing Unit at Northern Regional Hospital.  Previously, he resided at 126 Glenn Court and RidgeCrest Retirement Community.  Mr. Dollyhigh was born November 13, 1933, in Surry County, the son of the late Charles Raymond and Sarah Myrtle Atkins Dollyhigh.  Bobby attended White Plains High School and served in the United States Army in Germany.  He owned service stations on Highway 52 South and Rockford Street for many years.  He finished his career as a salesman at Motor Supply Company.  After retirement, Bobby volunteered many years at Northern Regional Hospital and Yokefellow Co-Operative Ministries.  He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, singing, gardening, and organizing senior events for his church.  He was a faithful member of Dobson Church of Christ.  He was married for 54 years to the late Willie Ruth Wagoner Dollyhigh, the love of his life.  He is survived by a stepdaughter, Sheila Willard Gifford and her husband, Dr. Robert R.M. Gifford, of Columbia, SC; his grandchildren, Robert R.M. Gifford, Jr. of Charlotte and Emily Gifford Lucey (Justin) of Mount Pleasant, SC; a great-grandson, Dillon Gifford Lucey of Mount Pleasant, SC; a sister, Geneva D. Jester of East Bend; a brother, Grady Dollyhigh of Mount Airy; and two sisters-in-law, Lenda Dollyhigh and Bessie Dollyhigh Laxton, both of Mount Airy.  He also enjoyed the pleasure of many nieces, nephews, and cousins in his large, extended family.  In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Dollyhigh was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers-in-law, Judy D. and Tommy Draughn and Ralph Jester; and four brothers and a sister-in-law, James Samuel Dollyhigh, Johnny Dollyhigh, Billy Gray Dollyhigh, and Ulysses Ray and Arlene Dollyhigh.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 12:00 PM at Dobson Church of Christ, with Brother Ralph Sproles and Chaplain Brian Chilton officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 11:15 AM until 12:00 PM at the church.  Due to public health concerns, attendees are requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing within the church.  For those wishing to remain in their vehicle during the service, a radio frequency will be provided.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, 830 Rockford Street, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
