Mr. Bobby Ray Easter, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday night, December 21, 2020, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Easter was born January 16, 1934, in Surry County, one of thirteen children born to the late Peter Abner and Lessie Coble Easter. Bobby served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from the Army, he served as a member of the VFW Memorial Honor Guard and Disabled American Veterans. He retired as a machine operator from Bassett Furniture after many years of service and was a member of Friendly Tabernacle. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Juanita Gammons Easter of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Leonard “Winky” Combs of Lambsburg, VA, and Doris and Eddie Robertson of Mount Airy; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry and Tammy Easter of Goldsboro, and Robert Easter and Junior and Angela Easter, all of Mount Airy; his grandchildren, Stephen and Brandi Robertson, Nicole and Mac Casstevens, Jacob Combs, Jonathan Combs, Heather Easter, Jordan Caudle, Faith Easter, Wyatt and Courtney Easter, Hayley Easter, Christopher Easter, Christina and Robert White, Hunter Williams, and Nikole Williams; twenty-three great-grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Jones of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law, Nadine Easter of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Easter was preceded in death by five infant sisters; an infant brother; three sisters, Nancy Simons, Elsie Singleton, and Irene McCann; and two brothers, Thomas Easter and Henry Oscar Easter. The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 24, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Brian Frazier, the Rev. Michael Combs, and the Rev. Tommy Vass officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Due to public health concerns, attendees are requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to North Carolina Disabled American Veterans Chapter 61, 215 Jones School Road, Suite 209, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
