Bobby Ray Freeman, Sr.

Rev. Bobby Ray Freeman, Sr.,78, of Lowgap went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Surry County on August 10, 1943, to the late, James Lee Freeman and Ruby Goins Freeman Watson.  Rev. Freeman preached the gospel of Jesus Christ for many churches.  Bobby was a loving, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.  He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann Johnson and Darrell; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Bobby Ray Freeman, Jr. and Falicity, Bobby Dean Thomas and Peggy, Willie Freeman and Rebecca, Jesse Ray Doss and Kimberly; Seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Tilley and Bruce, Donna Joyce and Leon, Betsy Edwards and Nick, Susie Munger, June Freeman; brothers, Rev. David Freeman and Annette, Dennis Freeman and Audrey; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Rev. Freeman was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Jane Edwards Freeman; a brother, James Leo “Jimmy” Freeman, Jr.  A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Holy Cross Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Freeman, Jr., the Rev. Butch Holder, and the Rev. Mike Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Holy Cross Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with expenses.  Moody Funeral Services is serving the Freeman family.
