Mr. Bobby Ray Harold, 79, of Mount Airy,NC, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Harold was born October 7, 1933, in Patrick County, VA, to Carlis Martin and Hassie Puckett Harold. He was co-founder of H & W Trucking of Mount Airy. Mr. Harold was a member and deacon of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, past master of Renfro Masonic Lodge #691 AF & AM, past president of Surry Shrine Club, and an avid Wake Forest basketball fan. Mr. Harold is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sylvia M. Harold of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Randy Thomas of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Vickie Harold of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Tyler Harold, Andrea Thomas, Casey Thomas, and Abigale Harold; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Arthur Jessup, Ruth and Gene Handy, and Frances and Vernon Utt, all of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law, Laura Ann Harold of Mount Airy; a special niece and her husband, Phyllis and Jerry Crabb; and many other nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren, Whitney Hunter and Nathan Atkins; and a great step-grandson Cayden Hudson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harold was preceded in death by a sister, Shelby Jean King; and a brother, L.K. Harold. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 5, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Doug DeLong, the Rev. Danny Culler, Dr. Jon Cawley, and Mr. Gary York officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with graveside Masonic rites conducted by Renfro Mason Lodge # 691 AF & AM. The family will receive friends to celebrate his life Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the Christian Life Center at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 123 Mount Carmel Church Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund, 123 Mount Carmel Church Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or The Surry Community College Foundation, 630 South Main Street, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
