Bobby Ray Hutson

Mr. Bobby Ray Hutson, 87, of Ararat, passed away Friday evening, August 27, 2021, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy. Mr. Hutson was born November 18, 1933, in Surry County, the son of the late John William “Willie” and Edna Frances Johnson Hutson. Bobby served our country in the United States Army from August 1953 until June 1955. He was the owner and operator of Hutson Electric Inc. and was a longtime and faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and the Rev. Steve Delph of Ararat; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary “Cindy” Hutson of Ararat; three grandsons, Justin Delph and his wife, Erin, of Gastonia, Tyler Delph and his wife, Jordan, of Mount Airy, and Turner Delph of Ararat; three great-grandsons, Gibson Delph, Maddux Delph, and Chipper Delph; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Annie Mae Bruner of Mount Airy and Bonnie and Jerry Shropshire of Dobson; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Lynn and James “Buck” Dunbar of Mount Airy, Iva Lee Hutson of Ararat, and Sheppard Ausby Moore, Jr. of Mount Airy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hutson was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Virginia Moore Hutson; two sisters, Mary Ruth Atkins and Hilda Bruner; and five brothers, Billy Gray Hutson, Leonard Hutson, Ronnie Hutson, Randall Hutson, and Kenneth Hutson. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at 11:00 AM at White Plains Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Delph, the Rev. David Tucker, and the Rev. Tom Delph officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church. Additionally, family and friends may pay their respects at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy on Monday from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
