Bobby Ray O'Neal

Mr. Bobby Ray O'Neal, 76, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. O'Neal was born February 27, 1935, in Surry County, to the late Oscar and Alice Gillespie O'Neal. He was a retired roofing contractor and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Ararat. Mr. O'Neal is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Barry Smith of White Plains; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark and Sharon O'Neal of Mount Airy and Gregory O'Neal of Dobson; six grandchildren, Jennifer Simmons, Chase O'Neal, Eden C. Lee, Beverly R. Lee, Amber Flippen, and Zack O'Neal; three great-grandchildren, Zane Simmons, Brady Simmons, and Anna Flippen; three sisters, Anne O'Neal Bowman, Jackie O'Neal Atkins, and Mozelle Harrell, all of Ararat; and special friends, Lavern Keith of Ararat, VA, and Grover and Frances Stanley of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. O'Neal was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn O'Neal East and Roxie O'Neal Chilton; and two brothers, Clinton O'Neal and Glenn O'Neal. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 25, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Ararat Cemetery, with the Rev. Ted Crotts officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
