Bobby Gray Smith

Bobby Gray Smith, age 86, of Mount Airy, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.  He was born on January 12, 1937, to Herbert Neil Smith and Vashti Shelton Smith.  He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church in Mount Airy where he also served as a deacon.  Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Childress; twin brother, Billy Ray; brothers, Herbert, Clarence, Clay, and Russell Smith; sister-in-law, Joan.  Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shelby N. Smith; daughter, Vicki (Stewart) Mauck of Mount Airy; sons, Lane (Sheila) Smith of King, Terrell (Tammy) Smith of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Shane (Emily), Derick (Brooke) Mauck both of Mount Airy, and Candace (Jonathan) Pettus of Huntersville; great-grandchildren, Kathlyn, Cooper, Gabe, Aaron, Liam, and Jude Mauck, all of Mount Airy, and Emersyn Pettus of Huntersville; sisters-in-law, Lori, Shelby and Jacqueline. Funeral services will be held at Welcome Baptist Church in Mount Airy on Saturday, June 17, at 2 p.m.. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Mount Airy.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
