Bonnie Sue George McCraw

Mrs. Bonnie Sue George McCraw, 68, of Cana, VA, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011. She was born February 6, 1943, in Surry County, to the late Robah Lee and Nellie Inman George. Mrs. McCraw was a homemaker and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for the love of her family, friends, and church. She enjoyed cooking, canning, baking coconut pies, and wedding cakes. She took such pride in baking for family and friends, especially the wedding cakes for her three children. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Phillip R. McCraw, Sr. of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Mike Ammann of Mount Airy and Sandra and Norman Lynch of Pinnacle; a son and daughter-in-law, Reggie and Andrea McCraw of Westfield; seven grandchildren, Austin, Channing, and Brantley Lynch, Michael Scott and Mackenzie Ammann, and Nathaniel and Holden McCraw; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Pete and Helen George and Jack and Elizabeth George, all of Westfield; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCraw was preceded in death by four sisters, Barbara Lawson, Iris Lackey, Peggy Isaacs, and Betty Jean Stewart; an infant brother, Donus Eugene George; and a very special friend, Marie Sechrist Easter. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Sechrist, the Rev. Jimmy McCraw, and the Rev. Mark George officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mount Airy Dialysis Center, 1280 Newsome Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their appreciation to Mount Airy Dialysis Center, Dr. Greenwood, and the CICU and Hemodialysis Units at Forsyth Medical Center.
