Bonnie Faye Cook Snody was born July 28, 1936, in Surry County to Ruth Ellen Collins Cook and Fred Martin Cook. She died on March 13, 2022, at Northern Regional Hospital with her children by her side. She grew up in Westfield and attended Westfield School where she graduated as class valedictorian. Our mother was a woman of extraordinary strength, compassion, and integrity. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit. While attending high school, she met the love of her life, Jack Snody. After graduating from high school, she attended Appalachian State Teachers College where she majored in elementary education. She and Jack had four children, Rebecca Snody, Edward Snody (Lisa), Vivienne Badgett (Doug) and Jacqueline Fayne (Jay); grandchildren, Russ, Kristi, Tiffany, Marissa, India, and Garrett; nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Snody was preceded in death by her husband, Moir Edward “Jack” Snody, and grandson, Jacob. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Bishop Kevin Haynia, and Bro. Paul Fisher. A private burial will follow in Indian Grove Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the funeral home.
