Brenda Aljean Bowman

Mrs. Brenda Aljean Butcher Bowman, 80, of Mount Airy passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Surry County on May 15, 1940 to the late Arthur and Clara Mae Johnson Butcher.  Mrs. Bowman was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Haynes and husband Rev. Rawley “Dink” Haynes, Kathy Hayes and husband Evangelist Tom Hayes; sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil Earl Bowman, Jr. and wife Kathy, Ricky James Bowman and wife Jane; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; brothers, Danny Butcher, and Ronnie Butcher; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Earl Bowman, Sr.; a daughter, Donna “Dodie” Kay Bowman; one great-grandchild, DJ Haynes; sisters, Faye Smith, and Joann McBride; brothers, James, Jack, Teddy, and Gary Butcher.  The family will hold a private graveside service on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with the Rev. Rawley “Dink” Haynes and Evangelist Tom Hayes officiating.  Special appreciation to hospice staff members, especially, April and Jennifer.  Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.  Moody Funeral Services of Mount Airy is serving the family.
