Brenda Joyce Hamlin

Miss Brenda Joyce Hamlin, 68, of Dobson went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 28, 2008 while surrounded by her loving family at the J. Paul; Sticht Center Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after a courageous battle of cancer. She was born in Surry County on March 7, 1940 to the late Claude and Minnie Poindexter Hamlin. Miss Hamlin worked at Tultex Industries and retired from the Candle Corporation of America and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her dear sisters and a brother-in-law, Josie A. Hamlin of Dobson and Betty and Vance Thompson of Elkin; several nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to her parents, Miss Hamlin was preceded in death by three sisters Judy Hamlin Brendle, Lucy Hamlin and Jewell Hamlin Venable; three brothers, W. Clyde Hamlin, Sr., Crawley L. Hamlin and Bill W. Hamlin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday July 30, 2008 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Lewis, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Tuesday at Salem Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Salem Baptist Church 430 Rockford Road Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Hamlin family.
