Brenda Collins Hardy

Mrs. Brenda Faye Collins Hardy – “Brenda Faye”, age 73 of Dobson, passed away on Oct.6th, 2023 at SECU Hospice home, surrounded by her family, after a long illness and a tough, courageous fight against cancer.

She was born in Surry County on May 27th, 1950, to the late Jonas Franklin Collins and Vernice Omie White Collins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Franklin Collins, mother-in-law, Lillian Willard, and her fur baby Max.

Brenda will be remembered as a loving wife, mama, memaw, and friend. She will be greatly missed by so many whom she had the privilege to be a part of their lives. She was intelligent, strong, independent, hardworking, and sacrificed so much for her family to make sure they were taken care of. She never knew a stranger and always made you feel welcome and loved in her presence. She enjoyed working in her flowers and spending time with her family and especially enjoyed it when all the grandchildren were together, this brought the biggest smile to her face.

Mrs. Hardy is survived by her husband, Donnie Hardy; two daughters, Tammy Simmons (Chris), Misty Willard (Cory), grandchildren, Katherine Simmons, Corben Kiser, Chase Kiser, Gabe Simmons, and Carley Atkins. Her best friend of over 40 years, Barbara (Bobbie) Bledsoe. Stepdaughter, April Cleary. Special nieces and nephew Vickie Branch, Sheila Bowman and Steven Collins, several great and great-great nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank Yadkin Valley Home Health for the care they provided over the years and Mountain Valley Hospice and the staff at WHH and SECU for the amazing care and love shown to our mama during her illness.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Brenda asked that you don’t cry sad tears for her just remember all the good memories and hold dear to them. She will see you again.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.
