Brenda Gay (Shuskey) Payne

Mrs. Brenda Gay Shuskey Payne, age 80 of Lowgap, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Payne was born on January 23, 1941, in Surry County to late Mamie Sue Norman Farris. Brenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Left to cherish her memoires are her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Melton and Fiancé Brad Easter; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Debbie Payne, Roger and Lisa Payne, Michael Payne and Fiancée Rhonda White; grandchildren, Scottie and Wendy Payne, Misty and Jack Melton, Brandon and Christy Payne, Ashley and Pete Sheppard, Michael Payne, Jr., Keisha Payne, Corey Payne, Jacob Shinault, Carlee Melton, Emily Easter; sixteen great-grandchildren, brother and sisters-in-law, Don and Brenda Farris, Peggy Shuskey; along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her mother, Mamie Sue Norman Farris, her husband, Columbus Payne, Jr; an infant son, baby Payne; two brothers, Calvin Shuskey and Marion Shuskey. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 2:00PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Pastor Chris Park and Scottie Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Imogene Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 12:00 until 2:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Blue Ridge Baptist Church, 3581 Pine Ridge Road, Lowgap, North Carolina 27024. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is assisting the family.
