Brother Herbert Charlie Jones, age 72 of Claudville, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville. He was born in Patrick County on October 11, 1938 to the late Sanders and Lucy Willard Jones. In addition to his parents, Brother Jones was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Jones, William Press Holt and Lester Jones; and a brother-in-law, Billy Akers Jones. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Westfield, North Carolina and had preached from time to time at the nursing home, churches and on the radio. He had retired from Walmart.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nonnie "Minnie Mae" Wilson Jones of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Greg Martin of Lawsonville, North Carolina and April and David Bieri of Claudville; two granddaughters, Victoria Martin, and fiancé, David Collins, and Sara Ann Martin; one step-granddaughter, Jasmine Bieri; one great-grandson, Bryson Collins; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Jesse and Betty Jones and Linda Jones, all of Stuart; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Lula Belle and Grandy Biggs, Lois King and Bertha Goins, all of Stuart; several special nieces and nephews; a special friend, Brenda King of Stuart; and his beloved dog, Candy.
Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Brother Tommy Nichols, Brother Dean Eaton and Brother Roger Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Stuart Church of Christ cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home of Lou and Grandy Biggs, 661 Collinstown Road, Stuart, Virginia.
