Bruce Eldridge Amburn

Mr. Bruce Eldridge Amburn, 70, of Mt. Airy went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Surry County on October 8, 1949 to the late Ross Montgomery Amburn and Edith Mays Amburn.  Mr. Amburn was owner operator of Round Peak Tree Farm, and was a faithful member of Ladonia Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher.  He was an active member of the Gideon’s International local Dobson Camp.  Mr. Amburn proudly served our country in the United States Army, and National Guard.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and his special pet Milo.  He was a beloved son, brother, husband, and father who will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.  Mr. Amburn will be remembered by his loving wife of 39 years, Catherine Watson Amburn; a daughter, Amber Amburn  of Venice, CA; a sister, Dianne Amburn Holder (Gordon) of Lowgap,; nephews Lee Holder (Stacy) of Huntersville, Joe Holder (Lana) of Lowgap, and Drew Holder (Devon) of Charleston, SC; brother-in-law, Mitchell Watson.  A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Ladonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Holder, and Brother James Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.  There will not be a formal visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideon’s International, Dobson Camp, P.O Box 791, Dobson, NC 20717.  Very special thanks to Dr. Challie Minton, caregivers, Hope Pope, and Cathy Lovill, and the Ladonia community for all of their love and support.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
