Bruce Paul Barker

Mr. Bruce Paul Barker, 61, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019 at his home.  He was born in Boston, MA on December 12, 1957.  Mr. Barker loved music and once played drums with the band called the Rings.  He enjoyed movies, old and new. Mr. Barker was employed as a corporate buyer for Novant Health and served as a volunteer soccer coach in Winston-Salem for several years.  He is survived by daughters, Heather, Emily and Brittany Barker; step-sons, William Marshall, Drew Sewell, and adopted son, Matt Douglas; grandchildren, Jimmy Marshall and Corbin Sewell; and his mother-in-law, Shirley Marshall.  Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Lynn Marshall Barker; and two brothers.  A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 7, 2019 at State Line Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  There will be no formal visitation.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
