Mr. Bruce D’Amico, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 7, 2022, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem. Mr. D’Amico was born August 20, 1943, in Surry County, the son of the late Marion and Maggie Bobbitt D’Amico. Bruce retired from L.S. Starrett Company and was a member of the Baptist faith. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda Burkhart D’Amico; two daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Daren Cave and Lee and Kevin Morris; his grandchildren, who were the “light of his life,” Rachel Cave, Chloe and Mason Jester, John “J.C.” Morris, Clark Morris, and Lily Morris; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Angelina and Clyde Bowman and Bonita Payne; a brother, Phillip D’Amico; a sister-in-law, Marian Hawks; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. D’Amico was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, G.B. Hawks, Tony and Frankie D’Amico, and Juanita D’Amico; and a brother-in-law, Irby Payne. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 11, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, Memorial Bible Program, P.O. Box 1032, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
