Bruce Wayne Smith

Mr. Bruce Wayne Smith, 49, of 2263 Westfield Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, July 16, 2007. Mr. Smith was born December 9, 1957, in Surry County, the son of Doris Hutchens Smith and the late Pink Odell Smith. He was a member of the Bannertown Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 26 years, the owner of Smith's Clean Up Shop, an employee of Smith's Diesel Repair and Towing, and a school bus driver for the city school system. Surviving are his wife, Rebecca Hiatt Smith of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Misty and Adam Duggan of England, Holly and Brad Johnson of Mount Airy, and Kelly and Daniel Monday of Cana, VA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin and Robin Brickell of Siloam and B.J. Smith of the home; seven grandchildren, Austin Brickell, Ryan Brickell, Ashley Brickell, Katie Monday, Korbin Monday, Kaleb Duggan, and Aydin Duggan; his mother, Doris Hutchens Smith of Mount Airy; a sister, Faye York of Mount Airy; a brother, Larry Smith of Phoenix, AZ; a nephew, McKinley York of Mount Airy; and a special mother-in-law, Nancy Hiatt of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 19, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Arlis Thomas, and burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
