Buddy Baker

Mr. Hilbert Wilson “Buddy” Baker, Jr., age 74, of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Surry Community Health & Rehab.  Mr. Baker was born in Surry County on May 5, 1944, to Hilbert and Helen Draughn Baker.  Surviving is his wife, Annette Darnell; daughters and a sons-in-law, Tracey and Terry Browder, Dana Baker, Torie and Trey Harris, and Kimberly and James Ploof; grandchildren, Jordan Beketov, Jodie Beketov, Elijah Browder, Laken Barnette, Emma Baker, Summer Moss, Adison Holsclaw, Shyanne Holsclaw, Alexus Bishup, Annalei Ploof, J.J. Ploof, Colton Ploof, Kylie Ploof, and Mykel Ploof.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by sisters, Juanita St. John and Judy Fields.  A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Welcome Valley Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Bill Jenkins and Eddie Parker.  There will not be a visitation.
