Buddy Farrell Easter

Buddy Farrell Easter, age 75, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2021. He fought a courageous battle with his health after receiving a second chance at life with a double lung transplant. He retired from Westinghouse after 37 years of service to the company. One of his greatest blessings was serving as the choir director at Flat Ridge Baptist Church for 53 years. He sang with a large voice that made everyone else want to join in. The simplest pleasures of life brought Buddy happiness. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved riding his tractor. He planted big gardens and grew the most beautiful roses that he often gifted to others. Anyone that knew Buddy well, loved his big smile, booming voice, and infectious laughter. He always had a ready laugh for those around him and enjoyed picking and joking with others. Buddy loved his family tremendously. He loved to hunt and fish with his boys and play golf with his brother. He loved taking his girls shopping on long weekends in Tennessee. He loved spending holidays with them all and watching his grandchildren and then great-grandchildren grow. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis Vaughn Easter who took wonderful care of him and was by his side until the very end. He is also survived by his loving children, his babygirl Brigette Easter, daughter and son in law, Penny and Sam Huff, and daughter Robin Leftwich. He was a beloved Papa to Dustin and Tiffany Huff, Andrew Huff and Blake and Lauren Huff East. He extended his big love to three great grandchildren, Sammi Lee and Boyd Huff and Amelia Jake East. He is also survived by three brothers Donnell Easter, Rudy Easter, and Doug (Agnes) Easter, along with many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Zebedee and Mary Alice Edwards Easter, his first wife Rebecca Ann Reece Easter, his sons Robert Farrell Easter and Daniel Jake Leftwich and several special brothers, niece, and nephew. In Buddy’s lifetime, his impact as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend will never be forgotten. His family will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest and sharing loving memories. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the health care team at Duke University Hospital for their love and care for the last ten years, especially Dr. Jamie Todd and Dr. Stephanie Norfolk. They would also like to express their gratitude to the Mount Airy Dialysis Center for their care and kind treatment, especially Dr. Alexander Hadley. A celebration of Buddy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 18th at Flat Ridge Baptist Church in Cana Virginia at 1:00. Family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00. The family respectfully requests that masks be worn for the service. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
