Buddy Joe Gentry

Mr. Buddy Joe Gentry, age 74 of Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning December 29, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson with his loving family by his side.  He was born January 31, 1949, in Grayson County to the late Wiley Jackson Gentry and DeEtta Moser Lowe.  Buddy was owner/operator of Pine Ridge Milling as well as his own trucking company.  Buddy enjoyed life to the fullest whether playing golf with his boys, traveling with family and friends or boating at the lake.  Buddy was a selfless man that made sure everyone around him was always happy, laughing and having the best of times.  Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 20 years, Misty Shores Gentry; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Julie and Myron Rippey and Madison and Trevor Simmons; three sons, Ryan Gentry, Lee Gentry, and Benson White; six grandchildren, Emma Gentry, Gavin Gentry, Ryker Gentry, Ryder Gentry, Deacon Gentry and Kendra and husband Kevin McKinnon; four great-grandchildren, Mason McKinnon, Madalyn McKinnon, Asher McKinnon, and Ellie McKinnon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janie and Dusty Lowe, Jackie and Ronnie McGrady, Penny and Dick Adams, Patricia “Pete” Moxley, Judy Brannock, Jimette Trexler and Amy Ward and husband Ben; brother and sister-in-law, Butch “CJ” and Lisa Gentry; several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Walker and a brother, Buck Gentry.  A service of worship and celebration will be held privately by the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, North Carolina 27017.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
