Buddy Gray Tolbert

Mr. Buddy Gray Tolbert, age 82, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born October 4, 1937 to the late Earl Conrad and Lassie Scott Tolbert. Mr. Tolbert loved bluegrass music and enjoyed playing mandolin with the Blue Mountain Boys. He also loved fishing, camping, and skiing at Lake Norman.  He, his dad and two brothers worked and ran the Mountain View Memorial for some time.  Mr. Tolbert was also a member of the Round Peak Masonic Lodge for over 35 years.  Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 63 years and also his care giver for the last five years, Hazel Tolbert of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Jack Pelfrey, grandson who was the apple of his eye, Andrew Pelfrey and wife Kelsey; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Ann Tolbert; brother-in-law, Ralph Gwyn and wife Barbara; sisters-in-law, Rachel Kirkman and Shirley Cook and Bonnie Tolbert; special friend, Sharon Francis as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents Mr. Tolbert was preceded in death by a brother Jackie Tolbert.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Jon Cawley. Burial will follow in Union Hill Friends Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites by Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 A.F. & A. M. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until time for the service at the funeral home.  The family would like to send their sincere thanks to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home and their staff for all the excellent care given during the time of Mr. Tolbert’s illness.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt.
