Buford Luther Seal

Mr. Buford Luther Seal, 82, of 1312 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Seal was born November 17, 1925, in Surry County, son of the late Luther Marion Seal and Elizabeth Hall Horton Seal. Buford served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Seal is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Hill Seal of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Craig Hiatt of Salisbury, Mary and Harold Hooker and Jean and Mike Walker, all of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Janet Seal of Mebane and Alvin and Lynn Seal of Mount Airy; thirteen grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Randy Young, Meredith Seal, John and Marcia Seal, Krista Hiatt, Neal and Joy Hiatt, Amy Hiatt, Chad and Ashley Hooker, Jake Hooker and fiancee, Amanda Hawks, David Seal, Sam and Codi Seal, Heather Walker, Melissa Walker and fiance, Joe Swift, and Adam Jones; six great-grandchildren, Jordan Young, Grant Young, Cameron Seal, Emma Hiatt, Neely Hiatt, and Jackson Hooker; a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Hobert Johnson of Myrtle Beach, SC; many special nieces and nephews; and two special aunts, Lizzie Hawks and Josie Seal, both of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Seal was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Hayes; and four brothers, Jack Seal, Troy Horton, Clinton Horton, and Joe Frank Seal. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Wallace, the Rev. Bailey Elmore, and the Rev. Clarence Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday, October 10, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church for the funeral service.
