Burton Avery Stanley

Mr. Burton Avery Stanley age 84 of 1297 Newsome Street, Mt. Airy, NC husband of Mrs. Clara Etta Bowman Stanley passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Central Continuing Care in Mt Airy. He was born October 21, 1923 in Carroll County, VA to the late Nathaniel and Cynthia Weddle Stanley. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of Doe Run Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Clara Etta Bowman Stanley, three sons and daughters-in-law, Quinton Junior and Rita Stanley, Posey and Mozelle Stanley and Robert Eric and Dianne Marie Stanley all of Ararat, VA, five grandchildren, Shannon S. and John Jeune, Yadkinville, NC, Alison S. and Jerry Easter, Cana, VA, Cynthia Marie S. and Ronald McCraw Cana, VA and Amanda S. and Mike Anderson, Pinnacle, NC, Robbie Eric and Tabitha Stanley, Ararat, VA, six great grandchildren, Walker Zane Bowman, Brady Cole Anderson, Colt Easter, Lacey Easter, Isaac McCraw, and Candace McCraw. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by three sisters, Gertrude Smith, Lelia Hall and Connie Turner and five brothers, Morgan, Erby, Cossie, Cecil and Wayne Stanley. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM , Friday, April 11, 2008 at Doe Run Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Terry Vaughn, Rev. Roland McCraw and Rev. Jerry Whitlow. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Doe Run Baptist Church where his body will remain until the hour of the service.
