Mr. Burton Eugene Terry, age 75, of Pinnacle, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Pruitt Health in Elkin. He was born in Patrick County on December 10, 1946 to the late Carmie and Alpha Smith Terry. He was of the Baptist faith and was a lifetime member of Dover Baptist Church. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army where he served as Military Police, and he was also member of the Piedmont Bowling Congress. Mr. Terry was a member of the VFW Post 2019 of Mt. Airy. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Shonia Atkins, Marty Terry and wife Annette, Melissa Wilson and husband Brandon, Daniel Terry, and a step-daughter; grandchildren, Nicole, Maggie, Martina, Caitlin, DJ, Caleb, Bryson, Layden, Kandon, Ashley, Hailey, Lilly and two step-grandchildren as well as two step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy McMillian, Carolyn Hooks, Barbara Shelton. In addition to his parents Mr. Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Thomas Terry; two grandchildren, Casey and Stephen. A funeral service will be held on Wednesdays, January 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Dover Baptist Church with services conducted by Bro. Eric Holt and Rev. Darrell Tate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Terry will lie in state at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the church for those that are unable to visit on Tuesday. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Melissa Wilson, 2137 Fancy Gap Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 2730. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
