Mr. Buster Weldon Jones, 86, of Cana, VA, passed away Monday morning, August 8, 2011, at his home. Mr. Jones was born October 22, 1924, in Carroll County, VA, one of twelve children born to the late Jesse Wilburn and Virginia "Jennie" Berrier Jones. Buster served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He earned four bronze service stars as a result of his bravery during the invasion of Normandy and The Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Jones was a prominent produce dealer for many years and a lifelong member of the Grover King VFW Post 1115 of Hillsville, VA. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Rodgers Jones of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Richard Davidson of Floyd, VA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Weldon and Barbara Jones of Mount Airy and Phillip and Patricia Jones of Cana, VA; nine grandchildren, Paul Davidson, Brian Davidson and his wife, Elizabeth, Jesse Jones and his wife, Jessee, Jennifer Pike and her husband, Jason, Ashley Jones, Laura Leigh Jones, Caitlin Jones, Mary Alden Jones, and Will Jones; and a great-grandson, Henry Weldon Jones. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 11, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. David Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with full military honors by Grover King VFW Post 1115 of Hillsville, VA. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
