Mrs. Callie Gwyn Branch Lothian, 90, of Red Bank Lane, State Road, formerly of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Lothian was born September 7, 1919, in Surry County, daughter of the late Charlie William and Mary Esther Simmons Gwyn. She was a retired beautician and a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. Mrs. Lothian was also an exceptional artist. Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie and Earl Benge of Jonesville, Linda Gordon of Mount Airy, and Melanie and Gary Carpenter of State Road; eight grandchildren, Charlotte Grey, Charles Hull, III, Todd Hull, Kim Hull, Penny Blake, Neil Gordon, Kory Seal, and Kyle Carpenter; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Jenny Gwyn and Betty Gwyn, both of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lothian was preceded in death by her husbands, Webb Branch and George Lothian; two sisters, Stella Gwyn and Mary Cooke; and four brothers, Brady Gwyn, Floyd Gwyn, Ray Gwyn, and Charles Gwyn. The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 14, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Flat Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Flat Rock Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for all their love and care during this time.
