Callie Mae Brendle Poindexter

Mrs. Callie Mae Brendle Poindexter, 92, widow of the late Mr. Ralph Poindexter, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 14, 2009 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center to meet her Lord and Savior while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on March 2, 1916 to the late William Rufus and Laura Ada White Brendle. Mrs. Poindexter was a homemaker and a dedicated member of Fairview Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Hardy of Siloam; four sons and three daughters-in-law Kenneth and Lucille Poindexter, Dean Poindexter all of Dobson, Dale and Linda Poindexter of Elkin and Don and Norma Poindexter also of Dobson; fifteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eleven step great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a brother, Arvil Brendle of Dobson. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Poindexter was preceded in death by two brothers, Curnie Brendle and Carlie Brendle; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Poindexter, wife of Dean Poindexter; a granddaughter, Penny Poindexter McCormick and two great-grandsons, Stephen Fishback and Kirk Stone; Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday January 17, 2009 at Fairview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Andy Atkins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Fairview Baptist Church where her body will remain to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service.
