Mr. Calvin Hull, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Hull was born April 11, 1925, in Surry County, to the late Lacy Franklin and Maggie Shelton Hull. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. Calvin retired from Fortis Enterprises and was of the Methodist faith. Surviving are his wife, Merle Thomas Hull of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Melba Hull of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Michael Calvin Hull and Tiffany Bullins and husband, Scotty, all of Mount Airy; a great-grandchild Gracie Rae Bullins of Mount Airy; and three sisters, Louise Creed of Mount Airy, Betty Berry of Kernersville, and Mary Frances Brown of Clemmons. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hull was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Norman, Rachel Willard, and Essie Love; and four brothers, Cleve Hull, J.R. Hull, Glenn Hull, and Bill Hull. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Harry Sherrill. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina, 5950 Fairview Road, Suite 708, Charlotte, NC 28210.
