Carl Samuel King, Sr.

Mr. Carl Samuel King, 79, of Mt. Airy passed away at Northern Regional Hospital, Saturday, January 15, 2022. He was born in Surry County, June 17, 1942, to the late Vester and Lena Mae Bowman King. After retiring from REA Construction with almost 40 years of service, Mr. King continued to work part-time at the Flat Rock Recycling Center. Mr. King was a kind, gentle, soft-spoken man that loved his family. He is survived by his sons, Carl “Sammy” King, Jr, Donnie Len King, and Johnny Ray King; grandson, Cory Lee King; great-grandchildren, Montana King, Jackson King, Huxley King, Summer Jones McBride, Silas Utt, and Amelia Utt; sisters Magdalene Swain, and Lena King; a brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Brenda King; special friends, Nickie Bowman, Billy Moore, Randy Lane, Timmy Goad, and Darrell McMillian; several nieces and nephews, and a special nephew, Rev. Pete King. In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Burchette King; a son, Randy King. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM, Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pete King officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:30 PM until the time of the service. A private interment will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens.
