Carl Edward "Eddie" Simmons

Mr. Carl Edward “Eddie” Simmons, age 74, of Mt. Airy, went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2018.  Mr. Simmons was born in Surry County on January 19, 1944, to the late Houston Leco and Ruth Belton Simmons.  He was the retired former owner/operator of S&M Glass for the past 27 years.  Mr. Simmons was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.  Among those who will always cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Dorothy Atkins Simmons; a daughter and son-in-law, Scarlett and Bob Dowdy; a son, Eddie Simmons, Jr. grandchildren, Meredith Dowdy, Jacob Simmons, Brenan Simmons and Cameron Simmons; and his very special pet, Chester.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by a son, Todd Edward Simmons.  The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Grace Moravian Church.  Services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Neil Routh.  Entombment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Laurel Ridge Camp Conference and Retreat Center at 124 Pendry Dr., Laurel Springs, NC 28644.
